Resonant Photoemission Spectra of Ce Compounds

1988
The resonant photoemission spectra for insulating Ce compounds are analyzed theoretically by using the filled band Anderson model. It is shown that two peaks in their energy distribution curves (EDC) originate from the bonding and antibonding states between the 4f states and the valence band states. Their resonance enhancement at the 4d-4f excitation threshold is analyzed by using parameter values consistent with 3d-core photoemission spectra (3d-XPS) and by taking account of the energy dependence of the photoionization cross section for the 4f and valence band states. Some discussion is given on the comparison with the resonant photoemission in Ce metals.
