The I. P. C. R. Cyclotron
1967
A cyclotron of conventional type was newly built at the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (Saitama-ken, Japan). Its particular features include capacity for accelerating to a wide range of beam energies a large variety of particles, including heavy ions. The significance of the establishment of this installation is discussed, and the construction of many more accelerators in this country is recommended. Special problems involved in the utilization of the cyclotron in applications other than nuclear physics are described.
