Determination of PFOA and PFOS in Wastewater Using Gas Chromatography

A simple high-performance gas chromatography for determination of perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS) in wastewater. Samples extracted by liquid-liquid extraction, derivatized, separated byμ-ECD detector, determined by the external standard method. It was developed to quantitate the presence of PFOA and PFOS in wastewater. The recoveries obtained from wastewater were above 80%, with the relative standard deviation were below 7.9 %. The detection limits of PFOA was 0.25 μg/L, The detection limits of PFOS was 0.12 μg/L. Which suggested this method was simple, feasible, and accurate and will be suitable for the determination of bulk wastewater samples in factory.
