The invention discloses a map generation method and system of a geographic information system. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining information of known coordinates of a road in the geographic information system and information of objects at the two sides of the road; according to the information of the known coordinates of the road, carrying out interpolation smooth processing on the road by use of a Bessel curve, and calculating information of a Bessel interpolation point; according to the obtained information of the objects at the two sides of the road, the information of the known coordinates of the road and the information of the Bessel interpolation point, calculating coordinates of the objects; and outputting a map including the information of the road after the interpolation smooth processing, the types of the objects and the calculated coordinates of the objects. The system provided by the invention comprises an information obtaining module, a road interpolation smooth processing module, an object coordinate calculation module and a map generation module. The method and system provided by the invention can effectively improve the accuracy of the map.
