Effects of nursing intervention on the QOL of aged disabled female patients with urinary incontinence

Objective To investigate the effects of nursing intervention on the quality of life (QOL) of aged disabled female patients with urinary incontinence. Methods Totally 60 disabled incontinent women of Haidian district of Beijing were selected as the research object and were randomly divided into the intervention group (30 cases) and the control group (30 cases). Patients in two groups received conventional nursing, and additionally patients in the intervention group received health education, home interview and telephone consultation. I-QOL scale was used to assess the QOL of patients before intervention, three months after intervention and one month after finishing the intervention. Results There were significant differences in the I-QOL score and the score of each dimension of two groups at different time before and after intervention (P 0.05). Conclusions Disabled incontinent old women-focused nursing intervention could improve their quality of life. Key words: Urinary incontinence; Quality of life; Disability
