Zusammenfassung Der Anwendungsbereich planmasiger Behandlung von Enzootischer Pneumonie und Rhinitis atrophicans ist nach unseren Erfahrungen auf intensive Ferkelerzeugungs- und Mastbestande beschrankt. Die regelmasige Behandlung der Saugferkel mit mycoplasmenwirksamen Antibiotica (Tylosin) und das chemotherapeutische Vorgehen gegen Sekundarerreger im Maststall unter Beachtung der Resistenzsituation werden bei Enzootischer Pneumonie empfohlen. Durch orale Sulfamethazinmedikation konnen Bordetella bronchiseptica von der Nasenschleimhaut der Sau eliminiert und das Infektionsrisiko der Saugferkel bei Rhinitis atrophicans vermindert werden. Behandlung der Ferkel im Stadium der katarrhalischen Rhinitis verhutet das spatere Auftreten von Kieferdeformationen. Summary Diseases of the respiratory tract as a herd problem in pig management The experience of the authors suggests that planned control measures for enzootic pneumonia and atrophic rhinitis should be restricted to intensive rearing and fattening herds. Regular treatment of unweaned pigs with antibiotics effective against mycoplasma (Tylosin) and chemotherapeutic measures against secondary infection in the fattening herd, bearing in mind the degree of resistance, are recommended for enzootic pneumonia. Oral dosing with Sulphamethazine can eliminate Bordetella bronchiseptica from the nasal mucosa of the sow and reduce the risk of the piglets becoming infected with atrophic rhinitis. Treatment of piglets at the stage of catarrhal rhinitis helps to reduce the risk of subsequent deformation of the jaw.
