Facet JoInts And LamInas Asymmetry In The DIsc DegeneratIon At The 14-145 And Levels: An InvestIgatIon WIth Computed Tomography
1991
The purpose of this study was ta determine the relationship between disc degeneration and facet joint asymmetry. In the normal lumbar disc and in the lumbar disc degeneration, facet joint asymmetry, laminer asymmetry, and laminofacet angle asymmetry were measured. Facet asymmetry, larninofacet angle asymmetry, and laminer asymineiry were found to be statistically significant at the L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels. The relationship between the anglution of the facet joints, laminer angle and disc degeneration were not significant at the L4-L5, and L5-S1 levels. There were significant correlations at the normal L4-L5 level between facet asymmetry and laminer asymmetry, facet asymmetry and laminofaset asymmetry, laminer asymmetry and lamine-facet asymmetry. But, in the disc degeneration there were ilot significant correlation in the disc degeneration at the L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels.
