Introducti on: In pediatric denti stry clinical practi ce, fear and anxiety manifestati ons are common and, if not handled by the denti st, they may damage the emoti onal mechanisms of the child and compromise the quality of the dental treatment. Such situati ons may be minimized by construing a relati onship of confi dence with the professional by applying child psychology knowledge, leading to a bett er understanding of the child’s behavior under dental treatment and facilitati ng the orientati on and approach to the parents on this occasion. It is therefore opportune that the denti st knows and applies adequate behavioral control strategies in the pediatric denti stry clinic, thereby establishing a good environment for the success of the
