Investigation analysis of resourcefulness and mental health for young patients with breast cancer

Objective To investigate resourcefulness and mental health of young patients with breast cancer, and evaluate their correlation. Methods A total of 52 cases met the inclusion and exclusion criteria for patients with breast cancer were enrolled in the study. General condition questionnaire, Chinese Version of Resourcefulness Scale and Symptom Checklist (SCL-90) were used, patients′ resourcefulness and its related factors were investigated. Results Resourcefulness for the young breast cancer patients was (62.7±21.7), in which was (35.6±11.9) for the personal resourcefulness, (27.2 ±11.3) for the social resourcefulness. There were statistically significant differences between different cultures degree of young patients with breast cancer at the personal and score resourcefulness (P<0.05). Total score of SCL-90 for the young breast cancer patients was(203.74±81.12), in which the single factor point was higher than domestic same age adults(P<0.05). Patients′ personal resourcefulness scores, social resourcefulness scores, resourcefulness total score and SCL-90 total scores were negatively correlated(r=-0.481, -0.378, -0.417; P<0.05). Conclusions Higher education can help young patients with breast cancer have a higher resourcefulness which is helpful to improve their physiological and psychological status.
