Performance Analysis of Circular Patch Array Antenna for WLAN Application

2021
In this paper, two circular array antennas have been designed for the WLAN application which works at 2.4 GHz frequency and their results were analyzed. Arrays of 1×4 and 2×2 designed using the circular patches and high gain is detected in the 1×4 antenna array of 8.207dB and in the 2x2 antenna array, a gain of 6.73 was observed. The design used a low-cost FR-4 substrate material and different feeding techniques for both antennas. Edge feeding was used to design the 1×4 antenna array and a coaxial feeding technique was used to design a 2×2 antenna array. The designed antenna was simulated with thehelp of HFSS software and parameters like Return loss, VSWR, and Gain have been achieved for both the 1×4 and 2×2 antenna array. As compared to a rectangular patch array, the circular patch array has a compact size and greater directivity which makes it more useful for WSN applications.
