De la loi d'entropie au principe anthropique. Réflexions d'un chrétien sur la cosmologie

The first part of this article presents the main Unes of the so-called «standard model» of the evolution of the cosmos, beginning with the «Big Bang». The second section proposes certain theological reflections supported by today's perception ofour universe. The exceptional conditions which hâve been determined to be necessary for the appearance of man (the source of the «anthropic principle») increase our amazement and wonder for the Creation. Different views concerning the relationship between the notion of Creation and the Big Bang are discussed. Finally, the problems raised by the hypothesis of the multiplicity of inhabited planets are treated. This discussion poses certains questions which appeal to the principle of complementarity, understood in its strongest sense, as the necessary conjunction of apparently opposite aspects.
