Economia Sustentável: uma inovação possível? Como?

This essay discusses, drawing upon the contributions of Niklas Luhmann, alternative means of achieving Sustainable Development. Based on the constructs used here, especially those spread by the Triple Bottom Line, it is understood that Sustainable Development will take place from the balance between the purposes of the economic, environmental and social dimensions. However, currently the development is still centrally guided by the precepts of economic nature, aligned to the unregulated market competitiveness and the low exchange and cooperation between social systems. Luhmann suggests ecological communication, able to generate mutual support among social systems.
