Current aspects of early prostate cancer dıagnosıs

2019
The rapid and steady increase of prostate cancer (PCa) incidence make the problem of diagnostics very important. As a result of the active introduction of prostate-specific antigen level determination, prostate biopsy and new diagnostic methods into everyday urological practice, there is a tendency of prostate cancer early detection and treatment improvement. As before, the diagnosis of cancer is established according to a pathological morphological study of biopsy specimens obtained by prostate biopsy (transrectal or transperineal approaches), while ultrasound and radiation methods (as well as their combination) perform an auxiliary role. However, the appearance of new non-invasive imaging methods showed considerable potential in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, the treatment method choice, planning the surgery course and the ongoing patient’s observation. Modernization of the available Moscow urologist’s equipment allowed performing real-time targeted transrectal prostate biopsy under visual control with fewer needle injections and higher diagnostic accuracy.
