Essential Leaf Oil Composition of Eremocitrus glauca (Lindl.) Swing., an Aurantioid Xerophyte
1995
ABSTRACT Eremocitrus glauca is the only xerophyte in the subfamily Aurantioideae (Rutaceae). Exhibiting cold and salt tolerance, it is a potential rootstock for the Citrus industry. The leaf oil was examined by a combination of GC and GC/MS. Of the more than 60 volatiles found in the oil, 48 were identified. The percentage composition of identified and unidentified and MS data for the 15 unknowns are presented. The components with the largest concentration were α- and β-pinene, comprising over 70% of the total oil spectrum. This leaf oil pattern reported here for the first time is unlike that of any other aurantioid species.
