MECHANICAL AND TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF PA66/PPS BLENDS (I)
2003
A series of PA66/PPS blends were prepared using co-rotating twin-screw extruder. The tribological properties of materials were studied. It is found that 80%φ(PA66)/20%φ(PPS) blend exhibits the best tribological properties. The morphologies of transfer films and its elements distributions were investigated using SEM and EDS. The analysis results revealed that PA66 formed a non-uniform and discontinuous adhesive transfer film on steel counterface, while PPS did not. PA66 in blend system enhanced the ability of PPS to form transfer film on counterface. The thermal control of friction model was applicable for PA66/PPS blend; wear of materials was governed by their ability to form transfer film and the properties of transfer film.
