The difference of healing time Centella asiatica 10% is compared to povidone iodine 1% on minor recurrence aphthous stomatitis

Recurrent Aphtous Stomatitis (RAS) is a disorder characterized by recurring ulcers confined to the oral mucosa in patients with no other signs of disease. The etiology is still unknown, but the predisposition factors are trauma, infection, immunology disturbance, nutrition deficiency, hormonal inbalance, stress, and genetic factor. RAS is the most common oral mucosal disease affecting human and has been reported as affecting 20% -25% of the general population. One of the therapeutic methods in treating RAS use 1% of povidone iodine as gargle. Due to “back to naturetherapy, 10% of Centella asiatica can be used for treating the minor RAS. This was a clinical observasional study, 20 samples which fullfil the criterias was divided into 2 groups. The data was analized by independent T test with normality One Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and α =0,05. The aim of the study was to compare healing time of RAS between 10% of Centella asiatica and 1% of povidone iodine.The result of this study was significant difference in healing time between 10% of Centella asiatica and 1% of povidone iodine. Suggestion Centella asiatica can be used as an alternative treatment for RAS. Key words : RAS, 10% of Centella asiatica, 1% of povidone iodine, healing time
