This paper presents a proposal which focuses on improving the teaching contents in the present Primary Teacher Degree as regards Artistic Education, in accordance with the current curriculum of the Facultat de Magisteri at the University of Valencia. This degree has been implemented quite recently, so we are able to propose improvements which will provide future teachers with tools which will optimize their knowledge in Artistic Education. To this end, horizontal collaboration will be carried out based on cooperation among teachers of different artistic areas of Visual Arts and Music. Thus we are proposing the implementation of an innovative cooperative learning methodology, reviewing and renovating the current Teaching Guides and incorporating new education methodologies in Artistic areas. This will help improve students' perceptions and use of these subjects. The methodology will consist of analysing the contents and curricular materials in order to design necessary improvements to be used in the classroom in the future. In addition, we plan to enable Facultat de Magisteri students to deepen their artistic knowledge, in such a way that they will be able to integrate it while organising and coordinating their future colleagues at Primary School.
