On‐line software for the new generation experiments: The model based OBELIX on‐line software

The increasing in complexity and scale of modern experiments places major requirements on the one‐line systems needed to operate them. The MODEL software has been developed by the Online Computing Group of the CERN Data Handling Division to provide an environment for data acquisition software. LEP and the new generation experiments were the target of the project. The Obelix on‐line system has been developed on the basis of the MODEL framework. We report our experience in the system development and integration.
