Solid-liquid interfacial energy of Pd-16.5at.% Si glasses
1988
Abstract Based on nucleation theory, the solid-liquid interfacial energy for Pd-16.5at.%Si alloy glass is estimated to be 94.0 ± 2.7 mJ m −2 by the use of the measured nucleation frequency, melting point, glass transition temperature, liquid viscosity and enthalpy change of fusion. We show that the values for the glass are close to the arithmetic mean between the pure metal and the metalloid.
