The invention discloses a lateral force resisting performance degradation alarm method for a bridge stiffening girder based on a transverse wind load effect. The method comprises the steps of wind load effect data acquisition, transverse wind speed and transverse displacement calculation-method analysis, transverse wind speed and transverse displacement correlation analysis, residual error alarm-method analysis and the like. According to the method, the timely alarm on the lateral force resisting performance degradation of the stiffening girder can be realized through controlling time delay of alarming, meanwhile, the percentage of the lateral force resisting performance degradation of the stiffening girder during alarming is given, and the percentage has an important value in the further safety assessment on the lateral force resisting performance degradation of the stiffening girder.
