Delayed Jejunal Perforation from Blunt Abdominal Trauma: An Unusual Case Report

2011
Delayed hollow organ perforation is rare and difficult to diagnose. We report a case of delayed jejunal perforation due to mesentery ischemia from blunt abdominal trauma in a 43 year-old woman. Presentation of free air was seen on radiography 34 hours after the accident and surgical repair was performed. The postoperative course was smooth. Continuing bedside examination is the key to early detection although multidetector computed tomography may help in early diagnosis.
