The expression and significance of IGF-I and IGF-IR in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma

Objective To study the expression of IGFI and its receptor(IGF-1R) in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma(LSCC).Methods mRNA and protein expression of IGF-I and IGF-IR in LSCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues from 29 patients were examined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry.Results mRNA and protein expressions of IGF-I and IGF-IR in LSCC tissues were higher than those in adjacent normal tissues(P0.001).In LSCC tissues,the expression of the two markers in LSCC with metastasis of lymph nodes were higher than those without metastasis(P0.001).Conclusion The high expressions of IGF-I and IGF-IR may play important roles in the formation and development of LSCC.Both of them may have correlation with lymph node metastasis.
