New Species, Subspecies and New Records of Butterflies (Lepidoptera) from China, I

In the present paper, one new species and two new subspecies with new records of two species and two subspecies are described from Sichuan, Yunnan and Hainan Provinces of China. All the specimens are deposited in the Entomological Museum, Northwest Sci Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry. Papilionidae 1. Papilio pavonis, sp. n. (Figs.1~2) This species is similar to P. polyctor Boisduval, but distinguishable from the latter in the following aspects: a) forewing without green cross band, bands on and between veins black and clear on dorsal surface; b) hindwing with upper surface pale anteriorly, the first and second crescent as well as fifth marginal patches, and tail veins green, the other crescent marginal patches and all the patches in lower surface purplish red. Holotipo: ♀, Yunnan, coll. Xie Weimin. 2. Chilasa paradoxa telearchus Hewitson, new record from China (Figs.3~4) Chilasa paradoxa telearchus Hewitson, Trans. Ent. Soc. Enispe tessarata Moore, new record from China (Fig.5) Enispe tessarata Moore, Brooks, 1949:256-259 Specimen examined: 1♂, Yunnan, coll. Xie Weimin. 4. Faunis caneus yunnanensis, ssp. n. (Fig.6) This subspecies is distinguishable from the nominate subspecies Faunis caneus caneus in: 1) much darker, blackish brown, 2) eye patch not visible on upper side but both wings with a outer row of 6 eye patches which are black with white pupil and the first one with 2 pupils. Holotype: ♂, Yunnan, coll. Xie Weimin. Satyridae 5. Elymnias vacudeva sinensis, ssp. n. (Figs.7~8) This subspecies resembles the nominate subspecies Elymnias vacudeva vacudeva but is distinguishable from the later in: 1) hindwing with the black parts both at base and apex on upper side wider; 2) lower side of hindwing white (slightly yellowish) rather than orange. Holotype: ♂, Yunnan, coll. Xie Weimin. Paratype: 1♀, same data as holotype; 1♂, Yunnan. Nymphalidae 6. Xie Weimin; 1♂, Yunnan: Mengla, coll. Huang Bingwen. 7. Helcyra hemina Hewitson, new record from China (Fig.10) Helcyra hemina Hewitson, Trans. ent. Soc. Lond., 1864, 3(2):245 Specimen examined: 1♂, Yunnan, coll. Xie Weimin. 8. Lebadea martha nebula, ssp. n. (Fig.11) This subspecies is distinguishable from the nominate subspecies Lebadea martha martha in: 1) median white cross bands both on fore and hind wings thinner; 2) forewing with anterior outer part whitish and foggy. Holotype: ♂, Yunnan, coll. Xie Weimin. Paratype: 1♂, Yunnan: Mengmo, coll. Huang Bingwen. 9. Cyrestes cocles formosa, new record from China (Fig.12) Cyrestes cocles (Fabricius) f. formosa, D’Abrera: Butt. Ori. Reg. II: 298, 1985 Specimen examined: 1♂, Hainan.
