Scintiphotographic Demonstration of Bilateral Infarction in the Distribution of the Anterior Cerebral Arteries

The authors found 2 cases of infarction in the distribution of both anterior cerebral arteries in which deposition of 99mTc pertechnetate in the infarcted areas was demonstrated. Since the scan appearance of extensive anterior cerebral infarction in the lateral view resembles the Minnesota Vikings' football helmet, it was named the “Viking” sign.
