The Effect of the Regional Climate on the Natural Thermal Comfort in Tunisia

2000
Publisher Summary The specificity of the Tunisian climate is a need for cooling in summer and for heating in winter. Due to the mildness of the climate, most of these requirements can be satisfied by natural means, allowing the replacement of expansive heavy equipment by auxiliary inexpensive ones, and important energy savings. This chapter explores the middle class buildings, in order to improve the level of comfort in different regions of Tunisia, when the air temperature is allowed to fluctuate. The results obtained can be fed into a larger project, thus aiming toward the setting of a thermal regulation for the buildings of three countries of North-Africa—namely, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco.
