Characteristics of plastic deformation under the action of ultrasound

1982
The process of plastic deformation under the action of ultrasound differs in a number of ways from deformation under static loading; a computer simulation has shown that these differences are attributable to the specific characteristics of the operation of a source of dislocations for a periodic law of variation of the stresses. Among the most significant features of the ultimate dislocation structure are the saturation of the density of defects (attainment of limiting states) and the formation of stable dislocation clusters, which do not produce stress fields.
