Investigation into the conformation of a series of 2‐alkyl‐1‐(o‐alkylphenyl)cyclohexanols. Part 3: Synthesis and conformation of some trans‐1‐(o‐alkylphenyl)decahydro‐1‐naphthols

Several trans-1-(o-alkylphenyl)decahydro-1-naphthols were synthesised from trans-octahydro-1(2H)-naphthalenone with aryl-lithium. Their conformations were assigned on the ground of the chemical shift of the hydroxyl proton. A comparison was made with the corresponding cyclohexanols.
