Method of reservoir geohazard impulsive wave simulation based on wave theory

2012
This paper analyses the impulse wave generated by geological hazards based on wave theory. It is different from the Navie-Stokes Equation model, which is usually used in our country. The impulsive wave of geological hazards is one type of non-periodic,serious non-linear wave, which belongs to shallow or intermediate waves. We can describe these waves mathematically with Shallow Water Wave model and the Boussinesq model. This paper uses the finite difference method for the Boussinesq model, taking the Gongjiafang rockfall impulsive wave in the Three Gorges Reservoir area for example. The long wave propagation and run-up with frequency dispersion and non-linear effect are simulated. The simulation results are very close to the investigation values. The results show that the simulation method based on wave theory for the impulsive wave of geological hazards is accurate, which can offer useful information on dangerous wave region and risk management. The method based is a new method for impulsive wave studies.
