Harmful fauna on oilseed rape fields and integral pest management
2007
The paper discusses harmful fauna on oilseed rape fields in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine. The most important pests of oilseed rape in mentioned countries are following: polen beetle, cabbage stem flea beetle, turnip flea beetle, cabbage seed weevil, rape stem weevil, rape winter stem weevil, turnip gall weevil, cabbage stem weevil, chafer beetle, cabbage bug, red cabbage bug, large cabbage white butterfly, small cabbage butterfly, green-veined white, diamondback moth, cabbage aphid, brassica pod midge and coleseed sawfly. The abundance of oilseed rape pests can be significantly reduced by IPM strategy: various cultural practices, such as preceding crop and sowing date selection, spatial and time isolation, optimal fertilization, irrigation, weed removal, proper harvesting, deep autumnal ploughing, monitoring of pest populations etc. The chemical control should be taken only when populations exceeded economic tresholds.
