A method of regenerating a particulate filter for a direct injection engine

It is disclosed a method for regenerating a particulate filter. In one example, is pumped from the inlet system of a turbocharged petrol engine with direct injection of oxygen through a compressor to the exhaust system. The oxygen is introduced at a location upstream of a particulate filter to the particulate filter. In this manner a regeneration of a particulate filter can be realized without the chemistry of which is arranged in the exhaust system upstream of the particulate three-way catalyst is disturbed.
