Spectra of P,D,T at target rapidities from relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions

1993
We have results from relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions taken by Expt.859/866 using a {sup 197}Au beam at momentum 11.7 A-GeV/c on a Au target at the Brookhaven AGS. The emphasis is on particle emission at target rapidities. An array of 42 Phoswich modules, provides simultaneous measurements of dE/dx, energy, and time-of-flight, as well as the direction of the emitted particles. Subsequent analysis gives particle identification (proton/deuteron/triton), kinetic energy, and pseudo-rapidity. An inclusive Au-Au pseudo-rapidity distribution of protons will be shown and compared to colliding systems containing lighter nuclei, as well as to the nuclear collision models RQMD & ARC. Also the result of a search for correlation between protons emitted at target rapidity and at forward rapidity will be shown.
