Laparoscopic and Robotic Transabdominal Preperitoneal Inguinal Hernia Repair

2021
Groin/inguinal hernia repair (IHR) is one of the most commonly performed general surgery operations. Currently, an inguinal hernia can be repaired through an open, laparoscopic, or robotic-assisted approach. Herein, we detail our preoperative evaluation, patient selection and optimization, and postoperative management of a patient with a groin hernia as well as our minimally-invasive transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) approach, including both laparoscopic and robotic-assisted techniques, to the repair of a groin hernia.
