Expression of nm23 gene and L-type tuberculosis infection in prostate carcinoma and their significance.

2009
Objective To explore the expression of metastasis suppressor gene nm23 and L-type of tuberculosis infection in prostate cancer and the clinical correlation between them.Method Immunohistochemistry,in situ hybridization and acid-fast stain were used to determine the expression of nm23 protein and mRNA as well as the detection rate of L-type tuberculosis in 65 cases of prostate cancer(Pca). The clinical data and pathological classification parameters of prostate cancer were analyzed with χ2 test.Result There were significant differences between each clinical stage of prostate cancer in regard to the positive expressions of mn23 protein and mRNA(P0.01~0.05);the positive rate of patients without lymph node metastasis were higher than that of patients with lymph nodes metastasis, and the difference between the two groups was significant(P0.05) with a negative correlation. As to L-TB detection rates, the differences between each clinical stage of prostate cancer were significant(P0.05);the positive rate of patients with metastasis were significantly higher than those without metastasis, and the difference between the two groups was significant(P0.05) with a positive correlation. Conclusion Both nm23 protein and mRNA had abnormal expression in prostate cancer and might have a synergistic effect with L-form tuberculosis infection in tumor initiation, which implies that nm23 gene can be used as a reference to evaluate the differentiation of prostate cancer and prognosis of patients.L-form mycobacterium tuberculosis infection might have a certain relation with the development of prostate cancer, the study on which could have an important clinical value.
