AN ADVANCED SIMULATOR FOR REPEATABILITY OF ULTRASONIC FLAW DETECTION STUDIES

SUMMARY On any automatic ultrasonic testing line a compromise is always to be found out to conciliate probes arrangement, maximum testing speed and maximum echo amplitude variation that could be accepted. An original device has been developed to simulate any practical situation. It is based upon a series of ultrasonic beam patterns in connection with single or multiple probes. These are stored in memory and can be used according to the probes arrangement the designer is going to choose. Thanks to that innovation a lot of preliminary works can be done, almost instantaneously, without any need to invest on prototypes.
