MİKROBİYOLOJİ LABORATUVARLARINDA ERGONOMİ

The occurance of the musculoskeletal disorders frequently among the laboratory workers enhanced the researches called laboratory ergonomics. From US and EU, many institutions has published neither fact sheets or recommendation articles providing knowledge about ergonomics for laboratory worker. Thus, hindering the loss of work time and providing healthier work area has been considered. The studies about ergonomics have been increasing in the health sector in Turkey, but studies on laboratory ergonomics haven’t reach an adequate level. The main purpose of this research is, enhancing the ergonomic awareness aimed at laboratory personnels, making them to determine ergonomic issues with ease and generating recommendations for them to lessen ergonomic disorders. The ergonomics of the microbiology laboratory were examined in this research. A survey study is established for 25 volunteered laboratory employees from 11 microbiology laboratories located in Karsiyaka and Konak districts and Ege University in Izmir. The survey questions pipetting, microscope work and biocabinet use which are essential in a regular microbiology laboratory in ergonomic term. The result have revealed the problems related to the laboratory environment and the lack of knowledge about ergonomics. It also has indicated that musculoskeletal disorder prevalence ,among those 25 workers, is %20. %80 percent of the workers has acknowledged no reported musculoskeletal disorder. Rates of incidence of suffer or pain in back and foot-leg whose employee are %52 and %48, respectively.
