Study on Steady and Transient Apparent Viscosity of Semi-solid AZ91D Magnesium Alloy

2006
Variable law of apparent viscosity of semi-solid AZ91D slurry in steady and transient rheological state was studied by utilizing a newly self-developed rotating barrel semi-solid slurry preparation machine(RBRM).The results show that shearing ratesolid rate and cooling speed have great effects on apparent viscosity of semi-solid AZ91D slurry. In steady rheological aspect, with the increment of solid rate in lower shearing rate, apparent viscosity increases quicker than that in higher shearing rate.In transient rheological aspect, apparent viscosity increases more evident with the increment of cooling speed. As cooling speed is higher, apparent viscosity increases quickly with the increment of solid rate.At the same of solid rate and shearing rate, apparent viscosity in steady rheological state is lower than that in transient rheological state.
