The article is devoted to the issues concerning provision of reliability and safety of electric power supply and their relation with professional training of operational personnel of the industry. Modern requirements to simulator-based training of the personnel have been reviewed. The data on the changes in current legislation on provision of purchases of goods and services has been shown. The reasons for the Russian electric power industry personnel training system falling behind the world level have been reviewed.
