Pyroelectric High-Resolution Linear Array with 256 Micromachined Lithium Tantalate Pixels

Application of pyroelectric infrared detectors ranges from simple motion detectors over temperature measurement systems and IR spectrometers to high-end infrared vision cameras. Based on long experience in development, production and application of pyroelectric lithium tantalate single element detectors and detector arrays, a new generation of linear arrays with some useful improvements has been created. The introduced linear array with 256 ion beam etched responsive elements arranged in a pitch of 50 µm is characterized by a significant better spatial and thermal resolution than in the former detector generation [1,2,3]. Main application fields are spectrometry and line cameras for temperature measurement in industrial use [4,5].
