Evolution of Blood Serum Globulins as Determined by Pregnancy in the Domestic Donkey (Equus Asinus L.)

1977
SUMMARY Blood serum globulins of 15 female donkeys have been separated electrophoretically on cellulose acetate (CAF) and their values determined before and during several pregnancy and post-partum periods. The relative values of the α -globulin decreased linearly during pregnancy, increasing again post partum ; the absolute values did not differ statistically. The relative values of the β -globulin oscillated around a lower mean value than that obtained before pregnancy; the absolute values were statistically identical. The relative values of γ -globulin decreased linearly during pregnancy and early post partum ; their absolute values at the studied periods were statistically different, although they did not vary linearly.
