Los aportes de la Teoría de la Mente (ToM) a la Psicopatología del Desarrollo Contributions of the Theory of the Mind (ToM) to Developmental Psychopathology

2004
In the past years, social cognition processes have gained attention from all cognitive and affective developmental perspectives. However, the applications of these processes in clinical models, with an enormous potential, have not produced the expected impact. The present article aims at providing a theoretical contribution of the application of the Theory of the mind to child and adult psychopathology. Its objective is to show that the concept of a theory of the mind, as a mechanism of individual and social regulation, in addition to other autoregulatory mechanisms (such as attention control or executive control) can be useful to enhance knowledge of the developing and promising field of Developmental Psychopathology. Its practical relevance rests on specific therapeutical strategies that are centered on changing mental mechanisms that have specific regulation.
