Currency on CD-ROM of Articles From Medline

On the 1993 CD-ROM disks of Medline, 371,010 descriptions were found over 3,271 serials. The overall average currency of information was 6.92 months. Values ranged from a minimum of -2 to 329 months. The mean journal currency ranged from 2 to 324 months, with an average of 9.18 months. Priority level, periodicity and prior database were found to have a highly significant influence on mean journal currency. The 10 most important serials (regarding ISI’s impact factor for general medicine) are shown as examples of the secondary result database.
