Currently it is not enough to be able to create and offer a differential value to the market, it is also essential to develop a competitive advantage and sustain it over time. Innovation is the optimal mechanism to ensure the competitiveness of an organization in the long term and ensure that economic growth is sustainable. In a highly globalized world, the permanent search for alternatives to produce more and better with fewer resources is a critical factor that drives the economic growth of countries and allows for far-reaching economic transformations. That is, on the one hand we must deploy strategies to achieve our goals to sell and be profitable, but it is also necessary to organize some additional process that prepares the organization for the future or changes in their environment and / or working conditions, in such a way that strategies are developed that function as a business solution to boost competitiveness and sustained long-term growth. The present study is based on a descriptive methodology, whose technique for collecting primary information was the survey, supported by the theoretical compilation and microanalysis of indexed articles related to the topic. The study yields a series of findings that make clear the importance of innovation, to finally expose several recommendations for the effective management of this strategy.
