Apparatus for contacting a liquid with a gas. The device for contacting a liquid with a gas having a flat spiral chamber (D), in which the gas enters tangentially and from whose center preferably drawn upwards, and nozzles (HD) in the center of the chamber spiral (D), from which the liquid is injected essentially radially outwardly. The device is primarily suitable for the cooling of gases, especially of raw gases, with a cooling medium such as water, and for absorbing gas components using a washing liquid. Figure 1.
