Study on LKB1 /AMPK /mTOR signal transduction pathway in endometrial cancer

2014
Objective:To explore the role of LKB1/AMPK/mTOR signal transduction pathway in occurrence and development of endometrial cancer. Methods:Thirty cases with normal endometrium during proliferative phase were selected as control group;thirty cases with endometrial cancer were selected as endometrial cancer group, and thirty cases with atypical hyperplasia of endometrium were selected as atypical hyperplasia group;immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expressions of LKB1,AMPK and mTOR in the three groups. Results:The expression levels of LKB1 and AMPK in endometrial cancer group were statistically significantly lower than those in atypical hyperplasia group and control group(P 0.05),the expression levels of LKB1 and AMPK in atypical hyperplasia group were statistically significantly lower than those in control group(P 0.05).The expression level of mTOR in endometrial cancer group was statistically significantly higher than those in atypical hyperplasia group and control group(P 0.01),and the expression level of mTOR in atypical hyperplasia group was statistically significantly higher than that in control group(P 0.01).In the three groups,LKB1 expression was positively correlated with AMPK expression(P 0.01),LKB1 expression and AMPK expression were negatively correlated with mTOR expression(P 0.01).LKB1 expression and AMPK expression were related to histological grade of endometrioid adenocarcinoma, which were not correlated with age and FIGO stage,mTOR expression was correlated with histological grade of endometrioid adenocarcinoma and menopausal status, which were not correlated with age and surgical pathological staging. Conclusion:The study confirms that LKB1/AMPK/mTOR signal transduction pathway plays an important role in occurrence and development of endometrial cancer.
