Quadrupole GC/MS Analysis of Polybromodiphenylethers Ranging to m/z of 959

Quadrupole GC/MS analysis of decabromodiphenylether (DeBDE) known as a kind of fire retardant was developed. Using temperature programmable injection GC and MS of fullscan mode, the mass spectra of DeBDE was successfully acquired. The detected molecular ions are 954, 956, 958, 960, 962, 964 and 966 m/z. The ratio of those is about 2:5:8:10:8:5:2 and agrees with isotope pattern of Br. The quantitation range was obtained for 100 ppb to 100 ppm using 800 m/z with SIM mode. Furthermore, from monoto heptaBDEs and DeBDE were separated.
