Integrated practice placements: A model for development

1989
Abstract This article describes the developments of the South and West Wales Practice Teaching Centre, which has now been operational for nearly two years. The original brief of the Centre was to address the shortage of good quality practice placements in South Wales, particularly within group care. The Centre has developed a model which enables Group Care to be located within a total social work framework, thus reflecting current service delivery developments. The article describes how the model was developed; the operational process of placement development; a specific case illustration; the role and function of the Centre; the specific advantages of the model to both colleges and agencies. The article ends with a brief review of the work to date.
