OLED Display as a Useful Tool Towards Real-Time On-Chip Photosensitivity Investigation of Microorganisms

In the paper, the utility of OLED display towards real-time on-chip photosensitivity investigation of algae has been presented. The microorganisms have been cultured in the glass lab-on-a-chip and stimulated with red (615 nm) and blue (470 nm) light in the microchamber area. A notable photophobic response of euglenas to blue irradiation has been observed utilizing dedicated image analyze. Mobility of the microorganisms has been evaluated to decrease by nearly 30%, during blue light stimulation, with regard to the reference lightning. The experimental results have shown that OLED display, assisted by real-time image processing, may be the useful tool devoted to precise and multi-color cells irradiation.
