Стратегічні завдання розвитку лісового сектору Карпат

An overview of the "Framework Convention for the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians" (hereinafter Carpathian Convention) is provided, and the "Protocol on Sustainable Forest Management" to carry out its tasks was  developed and approved at the Third Conference of the Parties of the Carpathian Convention (Bratislava, 2011). Information about the special features  for development of the "Strategic Action Plan for the implementation of the Protocol on Sustainable Forest Management" is presented. It was approved by the Fourth Conference of the Parties (Mikulov, Czech Republic, 2014).The strategic plan includes 18 objectives aimed at maintaining and increasing forest cover, identification and protection of natural forests and virgin forests, improvement of protection, social and productive functions of forests and their role in rural development, promotion of close-to-nature forestry, improvement of forest transport infrastructure in mountain forests, development of monitoring and information systems, coordination of research, implementation of joint programs and projects, and improvement of education and public awareness. For each objective, specific obligatory measures and expected results are foreseen. The State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine has already instructed subordinate enterprises to take into account the requirements of the strategic action plan in their activities and, starting from 2015, to submit reports on its measures implementation.
