Latest applications of structural health monitoring – case studies from cable supported bridges in China, Canada and India

2014
Inspection and maintenance of cable supported bridges is critically important in ensuring longterm safety and performance and in minimising life-cycle costs. And although proper inspection and maintenance will minimise the need, the structure or its critical components will inevitably require renovation and rehabilitation work at some stage. This paper describes the role that can be played by modern remote structural health monitoring (SHM) systems in the inspection, maintenance and renovation of cable supported bridges, illustrating it with reference to a number of current bridge monitoring projects.
