Amphibians are an integral part of the educational process at primary schools, secondary schools and universities too. The amphibians also include often overlooked group in nature – the newts. The article presents some new ideas for teachers of biology to improve their school’s field trip that can be illustrated by the example of the newts. This article brings general information about newts of the Czech Republic that we can find in the Pilsen Region. Moreover, all species of this region are shown on photos to help their recognition in the field. We also give examples of typical biotopes where these species can be found. Species of this region are Ichthyosaura alpestris, Lissotriton vulgaris, Triturus cristatus, which are listed in the Red list of threatened species of the Czech Republic and are protected by law too. Teachers would try to found these newts and introduce to the students.
